FIRST FIVE YUBA INVITES THE COMMUNITY TO HELP SHAPE LOCAL PROGRAMS FOR YOUNG CHILDREN AND FAMILIES - ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBER RECRUITMENT

WHAT: In an effort to ensure the needs of local families with children ages 0 to 5 are being met, First Five Yuba encourages parents and caregivers, teachers, daycare providers, health providers and other community leaders to join together at the First Five Yuba Advisory Committee Meeting. Attendees will be given the opportunity to help shape future First Five Yuba programs, strategies and funding for young children and their families.

WHEN:    Every Second Thursday of the Month - 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

WHERE:    Once Stop Center - Maidu Room

                    1114 Yuba Street, Marysville, Ca.

BACKGROUND: Research shows that a child’s brain develops most dramatically in the first five years and what parents and caregivers do during these years to support their child’s growth will have a meaningful impact throughout life. Based on this research, California voters passed Proposition 10 in 1998, adding a 50 cents-per-pack tax on cigarettes to support programs for expectant parents and children ages 0 to 5.  First 5 Yuba distributes approximately $1,000,000 a year in Proposition 10 revenues to programs and services that build on the strengths in our community and meet the needs of young children and their families.

CONTACT: To RSVP for the Advisory Committee Meeting, or for location of meeting please call First Five Yuba staff at 749-4877. A $25 monthly stipend is available for those who qualify to attend the Advisory Committee Meeting. The $25 pre-paid credit card can be used towards child care, transportation, or other expenses that may keep an individual from participating.

Please read the below documents for more information.  If you have any questions, contact Jenny Sharkey at 749-4876.
