Esperanza is a teacher in the Yuba City Unified School District.  She moved to Yuba County eight years ago after serving two years in the Peace Corps.  She is the mother of two young boys that she considers her "greatest accomplishments."  Esperanza graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and a multiple subject teaching credential.

Dr. Cassady is the Yuba County Health Officer, practicing preventive medicine and public health. Dr. Cassady graduated from the Ohio University College Of Osteo Medicine and has been a physician for 21 years.  He has been on the First Five Yuba Commission since its inception.

Dr. Cassady currently serves as the Commission Treasurer and Secretary.

Tara is a resident of Oregon House, in the foothills, where she lives with her husband and 2 small children.  She coordinates Sutter Wellness, the Sutter County employee wellness program, where she exercises her personal and professional commitment to keep the community healthy and active.  Tara is originally from Virginia where she received her B.A. in Chemistry from Virginia Tech and her Masters in Public Health from Eastern Virginia Medical School.

“John” is the  Prevention Services Coordinator for Sutter-Yuba Mental Health Services.  He has been responsible for Family Resource Centers at Ella and Cedar Lane Schools.  While in the Air Force, he provided advance planning for deployments for 3,400 personnel and their families.  He holds a B.S. in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University and an M.A. in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.

John currently serves as the Commission Chair.

Supervisor Griego was elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2000, and re-elected in 2004 and 2008, serving as Chair in 2005.  She graduated from local schools, and has two sons and a step-daughter.  She manages the family restaurant, Duke’s Diner.  She serves on 14 Boards, Councils or Commissions.

Cory has worked for the Wheatland School District since 1999.  In that time she helped create Grant Services, the Wheatland Youth Collaborative, district wide Family Resource Center's (FRC's) and a successful Mentoring Program.  She has written and facilitated millions of dollars in grants for the district and has recently taken on the role as school counselor and coordinator of counseling services.  She has four children, three in college that came through the Wheatland School Districts and multiple Youth Sports and her husband retired from Beale AFB after 22 years of service in the Air Force.  Her eldest son is quadriplegic with Cerebral Palsy.  He lives with her and her husband, and is the happiest person she knows.
